What the Swiss think of Mitt Romney

From Switzerland's Tages Anzeiger newspaper today:

Man: "We can only hope that Romney wins . . .
Woman: "Why is that?"
Man: "Because then he will leave our banking secrecy in peace!"
This not especially hilarious cartoon makes a serious point. The United States has been leading a long-overdue global charge against Swiss banking secrecy, and it is hard to believe that a man who has been discovered with his own Swiss bank account would be as supportive of the efforts of U.S. law enforcement in this respect. And, from the U.S. Center for Responsive Politics, via Swissinfo:
"Switzerland’s biggest banks Credit Suisse (fifth with $420,000) and UBS (12th with $240,000) are, together with Britain’s Barclays Bank, and consultancy firms PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young, the only foreign firms among Romney’s top 15 donors. The Swiss banks do not feature in Obama’s top 20."
The Swiss population is of course not the same as the Swiss banks, but there is probably quite a bit of truth behind this cartoon. And now - sorry, but we can't help ourselves:

Oh, and please don't forget to read this, if you haven't already.
