Sen. Bernie Sanders issues impassioned call

Bernie Sanders in the U.S. Senate (hat tip: Jim Henry)- something rare and worth listening to, on the latest tax cut deal. The Huffington Post calls him the "last unselfish senator."

"There is a war going on in this country, and I am not referring to the war in Iraq or Afghanistan. I am talking about a war being waged by some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in this country against the working families of the United States of America, against the disappearing and shrinking and middle class of our country."
Sanders is seeking to hold up the tax cut deal, and is calling for something that has been happening in Britain, for example:
"Sanders has emerged as the most outspoken opponent of President Obama's tax cut compromise, threatening to filibuster the legislation in the Senate and calling on Americans to take to the streets, or at least to their phones."
Sanity is available. Let's hope this is some kind of turning point.

Splendid stuff. You could say pretty much the same (bar a few details) about the UK too.
Stuff the poor, squeeze the middle, abandon education as a public good, but feed the fat cats. Cos the fat cats feed and employ the pols.
